The first model of a mass-produced French truck in the scale of... 1/24

A small event should mark the small world of the miniature and the model cars at the beginning of the year 2009: the arrival on the market of the first model of a mass-produced French truck in the scale of... 1/24.

At the origin of the new brand Maqmadon and of the project we find two passionate people, FranÁois Maquaire and Christian Carcassonne, who decided to create models which did not exist on the market.Having set their heart on one of the most representative models of the world of French truck, the Bertiet GlR. and more exactly a GLR 8 R tray with side rails covered, both accomplices began by looking for plans of the beast, then for several surviving copies, to realize precise statements of ratings. They started looking for a manufacturer able to produce their model in series, and obviously found him in China, unfortunately the only country to guarantee a quality product and a decent price. They passed on to him plans as well as tens of pictures of details, in particular wheels and rounded parts. The gestation asked for more than a year.

Prototypes have been made, then one preliminary series. The model is now ready and only the research for a packaging on the first prototype did not fully satisfy and prevented FranÁois and Christian from bringing out the model for the holidays. This last one is absolutely stunning in realism. Its wheels are directional, car doors open on a very detailed interior, the hood opens too after removal of the side wings ,revealing a magnificent five-cylinder Ricardo, cover of the tray with side rails is fixed by a bungee cord as real and therefore removable, the back tailboard opens and...the drive shaft turns when the vehicle is moving.

Apparently, this GLR should kink it more of one and even establish a great idea of present, because its price is contained it should be around 160 Ä.Besides, this type of model should not make too much shade for the models and the reproduced kits in the usual scale of 1/50 and of 1/43, and for several reasons. At first, its size will allow with difficulty the reproduction of the models in a shop window. Then, the wish of both leaders of Maqmadon is to release only a new model a year to whom can be added variants of the existing models(colors, different body etc.) and to limit the edition of every model.

The covered GLR will so be produced no as to 1 200 copies. Finally, the distribution will be made exclusively via Internet on the www.maqmadon.com site which will be operational in the course of January .We shall not thus find these models in 1/24 at the retailers, but they can be purchased from abroad, thereby decreasing  the number of available copies in France.Every model is delivered with a six-languages note including a text of presentation of the original vehicle and the diagrams explaining the features of the model.

1-This picture of a copy of preproduction, on which the place of the monograms of hood and that of windscreen wipers is not definitive, gives an idea of the  fidelity of the result. For car doors, the designers managed to combine reduced size and resistance to opening..

2-Those who know the GLR 8 R or who had the opportunity to pilot one will certainly be fooled.Everything is up even the emergency brake and the pedals. At first sight, the designers would have omitted to reproduce the car registration document in the glove box...

3-After dropping the side wings and opening it, we can reach the mechanics, which has been faithfully restored.

4-Just like the real thing, the cover is fixed thanks to an elastic cord and is removable.

5-Underneath,this is not bad either. The axle and the bridge are realistic, along with the transmission and the exhaust system. The drive shaft turns when the vehicle moves...
